POSITION SUMMARY:
Key role providing roadmaps for the implementation of electronic solutions. Work with health care providers and the HIS team to define and implement testing standards of application development. Work closely with the HIS sections to coordinate the effective implementation of HIS solution.
The role will be responsible for clinical transformation and performs duties that involve IT project planning, utilizing resources, designing portfolio and coordinating with section/departments. Serves as project implementation lead and key contact between HIS,HIM and the users. Contact on all HIM related JCI standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The Director of Health Information Management is responsible for coordinating health information management.
Participate as an integral and active member in the strategic planning process of the healthcare enterprise.
Develop, coordinate, guide and maintain health information management systems strategic and operational plans in support of the overall clinic/patient – focused mission and business strategy. These plans define a vision for meeting current and future information strategy
Develop and maintain an appropriate organizational structure capable of supporting the information needs of operating entities through appropriate and cost-effective information technology.
Develop and maintain corporate Health Information Management policies and standards.
Ensure that appropriate training programs for the corporation are in place to attract, retain and develop the key personnel required to support information services.
Develop and maintain the annual operating and capital budgets for Health Information Management Department.
Directs the health information management functions of their facilities.
Hospital responsibility for medical records and clinical coding.
Chair the Corporation Medical Records form committee.
To achieve the corporations targets for standards of accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of documentation and health information.
Develops and deploys health information management systems as part of the healthcare system’s overall information system plan.
Monitors health information management systems and sets the healthcare system’s standards for data quality and ethical practice.
Participates in the development of health information management policies and procedures on release of information, confidentiality, information security, information storage and retrieval, and record retention.
Documents and enforces the healthcare system’s health information management policies and procedures.
Provides education and training to the healthcare system’s employees in areas relevant to health information management policies and procedures.
Supports and facilitates clinical, administrative, and external data use functions.
Monitors local, national, and international trends in healthcare delivery.
Monitors changes in legislation and accreditation standards that affect health information management.
Serves as an internal consultant on health information management issues including release of information, confidentiality, information security, information storage and retrieval, and record retention as well as authorship and authentication of health record documentation, standardization of medical vocabularies, and use of classification systems.
Performs and reports research on topics related to health information management.
Forecasts the healthcare system’s future technical and information needs
EDUCATION:
Degree in Health Information management or international recognized equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
10+ Years in HIM experience. Strong training background in coding and reimbursement. Management (staff, admin and project) experience. Knowledge of information systems and healthcare applications in addition to database applications.
High standard of English written and verbal. ARABIC PREFFERED. Computer Literacy.
